You think you could be unemployed for how long??!!

So my boyfriend/fiancee/husband, pick whichever you want, he would have asked me at any of these stages, calls me today when I'm at work, and is like how much should I pay on the credit card. Yes, us rich kids have credit cards too. He has always been so good about remembering to pay on time, unlike myself who when responsible for my bills always managed to get a late fee. trouble is, he was for the first time ever 8 days late on a bill, and they called him to collect, and then jacked his rate from 12 percent to 25 percent. I think both are unacceptable personally. That card has at 10K balance, so do the math, what a waste to have this balance. He however, MBA and all doesn't understand the accrual basis of accounting or rather, he argues that he does, but as the bill payor, he has to worry much more about cash flow, and that yours truly does not understand how quickly we spend money. I made him a neat little tool on Excel to help him decide which I'm sure that he was more than capable of figuring out himself, but now I am getting off track. To answer his question, based on what I know of him, I said, how much do you want your bank balance to be? He is like I don't know. . .I could be unemployed for six weeks, could be six months. What?????!!! Stop me in my tracks. He may be closer to the center of gravity so that is not just slightly disconcerting. Even I who am here to tell you how easy our group does not have it, am surprised that he thinks that someone in his position could possibly go six months without being employed. I am just telling you that I hope he is not serious. In any case, he has me scrambling to scrape together monies owed to us, such as health insurance claims we have never filed. I am wondering if he thinks it could take so long to get a job, whether he should do something part-time while he ponders it. Just like anyone else we don't like seeing our bank balance go down, and hey, after all we have credit card debt to worry about.
